As its the new year, I thought id touch on the most talked about subject in January, which is the New Years Resolutions. The new year brings a new start for many, a way of forgetting the past year and starting a fresh. With new goals, bigger things to come and motivation usually at its highest. For some people, the opinion is, you shouldn't have to wait until the new year to start. If you're going to be committed, then start right away no matter what day or date it is. Thats a very fair point, but sometimes you need that psychological set point. You need that feeling of 'out with the old in with the new', and theres no better time than the new year. Having a nice rest and break through the xmas period to regroup, rethink your situation and plan out the new year can do wonders. For some people this is necessary. So which ever side you are, just make sure you have come into the new year ready to work as hard as need be to get to where you want to be. Anything (pretty much) is possible if you believe in yourself and are willing to put in the work. If you know what you want to achieve, this is the 1st step. Once the long term goal is set, sit down, get a pen and paper and write down the little steps needed to get to that end goal. Looking straight to the long term goal can be daunting and seem a million miles away. This in itself can lessen your chances to adhere to the task ahead. Therefor ensure you plan out short term goals, this could be weekly goals. This will allow you to reach your goal each week and give you that boost of confidence you are moving forward. Even a weekly goal can be split into daily goals, ticking each day off as you go giving you a feeling of worth and achievement. Having a routine, schedule to work to will give you discipline, creating an environment and recipe for success. Don't doubt your own ability, you do have it in you, everybody does. The factor between success and non success is hard work. 'Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard' says it all. You can be the most gifted individual, but without the hard work you will achieve nothing.
So lets make 2019 the year to remember, the year to work hard and chase your dreams. Believe in yourself and start making those little steps right now. This time next year you will either look back and regret not starting, knowing if you had of started you could be so much closer to achieving your goal. Or you will look back and realise how far you've came. Which feeling will you prefer?
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this and I hope it gives you that extra boost of confidence to go after your dreams.
